Paper Flower FAQs | Unwilted Customer Questions
We use Italian crêpe paper to create detailed blooms. All Unwilted flowers are constructed on wire. If you would like to adjust the height of the bouquet, simply bend or snip the wires to the height you want.
Our flowers are handmade art. Each stem is cut, folded by hand. Individual blooms can take up to 90 minutes to make. Your purchase directly supports artisans who maintain this traditional craft.
Each bloom is handcrafted individually so there may be tiny differences. Your arrangement will be put together by one of our designers upon order so the placement of each stem may vary.
Each bouquet is hand-tied in a presentable bundle. Some blooms may need some light fluffing after shipment. Gently unpack the bouquet by opening the box, unwrap the bouquet from the packing tissue and pop into the vase, or a container of your choice!
Paper flowers will naturally fade with time, particularly if sitting in direct sunlight. We think this adds to the beauty of the arrangement, but if you want to protect against it, spray the bouquet with a UV protectant made for paper.
To clean, use a blow dryer set on low and cool to clear out any dust.
Flower FAQs
Roses have carried symbolic meaning for centuries.
- Red roses traditionally represent romantic love and passion, making them the classic choice for Valentine's Day and anniversaries.
- Pink roses convey gratitude, admiration, and gentle affection—perfect for thanking a friend or celebrating a new relationship.

Spring weddings celebrate the season of renewal with flowers that embody freshness and romance.
- Peonies reign supreme as the quintessential spring wedding flower, beloved for their lush, romantic blooms and intoxicating fragrance.
- Ranunculus, with their delicate layers of tissue-thin petals, add ethereal elegance.
- Anemones provide striking contrast with their bold dark centers surrounded by delicate petals.
- Daffodils bring cheerful yellow accents, while tulips offer clean, modern lines in virtually every color.
Paper flower versions of these spring favorites let you enjoy their beauty without worrying about seasonal availability.
Peonies carry rich symbolism across cultures.
- In Western traditions, they represent romance, prosperity, and a happy marriage, making them a beloved choice for weddings and anniversaries.
- In Chinese culture, peonies symbolize honor, wealth, and high social status—they're often called the "king of flowers."
Because fresh peonies have such a short bloom season (typically May through June), paper peonies allow you to enjoy their meaningful beauty year-round.
Fall arrangements shine with warm, rich colors and textural variety.
- Dahlias are fall superstars, offering dramatic blooms in sunset hues of orange, burgundy, and gold.
- Chrysanthemums (mums) are classic autumn flowers available in virtually every fall color.
- Ranunculus in deeper tones add romantic layers, while craspedia (billy balls) provide cheerful yellow spheres that complement earth tones beautifully.
- Marigolds bring vibrant orange and yellow, and adding dried elements like feather eucalyptus creates that quintessential fall texture.
Shop our Muted Magic Fall Bouquet featuring dahlias, daffodils, craspedia, and tea roses in sophisticated autumn tones.
While ranunculus and roses may look similar at first glance, they have distinct characteristics.
Ranunculus blooms feature many thin, tissue-like petals that spiral tightly from the center, creating a swirled, layered effect. They typically have a more rounded, compact shape with a flat or slightly domed top.
Roses have fewer petals that are thicker and more substantial, unfurling from a pointed center in the classic rose spiral. Roses also have thorny stems, while ranunculus stems are smooth.
In arrangements, ranunculus add delicate, romantic texture, while roses provide classic elegance and structure.
Several flowers beautifully symbolize friendship.
- Yellow roses are the classic friendship flower, representing joy, warmth, and platonic love.
- Sunflowers symbolize loyalty, adoration, and happiness, because their bright faces following the sun mirror how true friends brighten each other's lives.
- Chrysanthemums represent joy, optimism, and longevity in friendships.
- Alstroemeria (Peruvian lilies) specifically symbolize friendship, devotion, and mutual support.
- Daisies represent innocence and loyal love.
- Cosmos flowers symbolize peace and friendship.
The best way to celebrate a life-long friendship is with flowers that last as long. Check out our single stem blooms for gifts.
Anemones are striking flowers known for their bold, dark centers (called "eyes") surrounded by delicate, poppy-like petals. They belong to the buttercup family and come in vibrant colors including white, red, pink, purple, and blue. Their dramatic contrast between dark center and light petals makes them a favorite for modern, sophisticated arrangements.
Fresh anemones are typically in season from late winter through early spring (December through May), with peak availability in February and March. This short season makes them especially prized for winter and early spring weddings.
Better yet, enjoy anemones year-round with our delicate paper blooms—no seasonal limitations.
Many popular flowers are toxic to cats and dogs, including lilies (especially dangerous for cats), tulips, daffodils, and chrysanthemums.
Pet-safe fresh flower options include roses (without thorns), sunflowers, orchids, and snapdragons.
Paper flowers, however, offer the safest alternative for pet households. They contain no toxic compounds, won't be accidentally ingested like fresh blooms, and don't require fertilizers or pesticides. Browse our entire Single Stems Collection for pet-safe, worry-free floral decor.
Sympathy flowers should convey respect, remembrance, and comfort.
- White lilies are the most traditional sympathy flower, representing the restored innocence of the departed soul.
- White roses symbolize reverence and honor.
- Carnations, especially white and pink, represent remembrance and love.
- Chrysanthemums symbolize death and grief in many cultures, making them appropriate for memorial services.
- Gladioli represent strength of character and moral integrity.
In general, soft pastel arrangements are generally preferred over bright colors for sympathy occasions.
A wildflower bouquet captures the romantic, untamed beauty of a meadow or countryside garden. Unlike formal arrangements with symmetrical designs and uniform flowers, they embrace a "just-picked" aesthetic with varied heights, textures, and bloom types.
Wildflower bouquets typically include a mix of flowers like cosmos, poppies, anemones, daisies, and craspedia, along with textural greenery like ferns and eucalyptus. The style is relaxed and organic, perfect for bohemian weddings, rustic home decor, or anyone who loves nature-inspired aesthetics.
Capture meadow magic that never fades with our Where the Wildflowers Grow Bouquet, featuring poppies, sunflowers, anemones, morning glory, and more.
Creating beautiful arrangements involves balancing focal flowers, secondary blooms, and filler elements. Classic pairings include:
- Roses with peonies for romantic elegance
- Sunflowers with cosmos for cheerful summer vibes
Ranunculus pairs beautifully with anemones, because both have delicate petals but contrasting structures.
Dahlias work well with smaller accent flowers like craspedia or carnations.
For texture, add greenery like eucalyptus, ferns, or lamb's ear.
Color harmony matters too:
- Monochromatic schemes (all pinks) feel elegant
- Complementary colors (purple and yellow) create energy.
Our Build Your Own Bouquetf feature lets you experiment with combinations. Create your perfect mix and save 15% when you add three or more stems.
